A unique integrative approach

Founded in 2016 by Pixie, The Food Therapy Centre has evolved into a uniquely integrative service, offering psychotherapy and nutrition counselling all in one. All our clinicians are either dual-qualified and accredited, are working towards dual qualification, or have basic training in therapeutic modalities.

Pixie Turner (MBACP, RNutr)

Director and Clinical Lead

Specialist areas: food and body image concerns, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues.

Pixie (she/her) is our founder and director, as well as the lead clinician at The Food Therapy Centre.

As a psychotherapist and nutrition counsellor, she specialises in disordered eating, body image work, and LGBTQ+ concerns. She has extensive experience in all these areas, as well as experience in working with complex trauma and how it manifests in someone’s relationship with food/themselves in adulthood. She takes an integrative approach, discussing both food and emotions to get a more complete understanding of a person. Her overall aim is to help improve someone’s relationship with both food and themselves.

Early in her career she found it challenging to access appropriate training aimed at nutrition professionals in private practice, which has ignited a passion in filling those gaps by offering courses, supervision, and shadowing opportunities.

Outside of her clinical practice, her science communication work extends across several platforms: social media, teaching at BSc/MSc level, public speaking, writing, media work, and her podcast ‘In Bad Taste’.
