Trauma

Healing from trauma is a deeply personal and transformative journey that requires courage, support, and time. Traumatic experiences can have long-lasting effects that disrupt every aspects of your life. Whether you have experienced a single event trauma or prolonged complex trauma, whether you have a diagnosis of (c)PTSD or not, you don’t deserve to suffer without help.

Trauma work is often long and difficult, but so worth doing.

We utilise a range of psychotherapeutic modalities, including talking therapy and beyond, to tackle trauma from all angles, always at the pace someone is comfortable with. We recognise that many ‘traditional’ modes of therapy can be unhelpful for trauma work, and so incorporate parts work, somatic-based therapy and movement. We also encourage diverse modes of self-expression, such as writing and painting.

Please note that this work requires a commitment of weekly sessions, likely over many months or even years, depending on the nature and complexity of the trauma experienced. To pursue this process, you will need to specifically request to speak with Pixie, who is our trauma specialist.

Our work is trauma-informed and trauma-focused.

At a minimum, all our clinicians have basic training in trauma-informed practice and the fundamentals of trauma work. If you would like to work towards processing your trauma and moving to a place of living life to the fullest, we recommend you work with one of our dual-qualified practitioners who are accredited in counselling and psychotherapy. This is especially the case when the effects of trauma manifest in the way someone engages with food and their body.

No matter the type or severity, moving past trauma involves a restoration of hope.
